JConnelly’s redesigned office environment brings previously siloed employees together and introduces informal areas that encourage natural collaboration.

Ranked as a “Best Place to Work” in 2017 by New Jersey Business Journal for the seventh year in a row, this marketing communications firm has long been known for its culture, but as our work style analysis revealed, the current space did not reflect that employee experience. The team occupied two separate suites within the same building, making communication difficult and leaving staff members feeling secluded. The redesign consolidates the team into a larger contiguous suite, bringing people together and realigning private office holders with the rest of the staff.

Two small kitchens at either end of the building were replaced with one very large kitchen area featuring a spacious and central island, perfect for standing meetings and informal collaboration. This space flows nicely into the adjacent open lounge, where employees can enjoy ping pong and comfortable furniture.

Studio Eagle’s design and technical teams worked closely with JConnelly to maximize the value of their tenant improvement allowance — a budget achieved with the building owner for upgrades to the space. To keep the office functional during the delivery phase, our construction team worked off hours and overnight, collaborating with building management to prioritize safety and security throughout the process.
