Given the current space build out at Kumon North America, Inc. is only eight years old and has been maintained very well, there are components of the design that still apply to the creation of the new space.
With it making sense financially to relocate and sign for a long-term lease, Kumon North America, Inc. had remained fully functional throughout the construction build out of the new location, and has successfully moved over within their current lease end date to ensure they did not incur double rent.
Much like their previous office, their new space houses their current departments, including training, museum, conference and café functions. The new program satisfies approximately 61,000 sq/ft, including a learning center on the first floor of the building. The space also includes the necessary increase in seats, and allows for better use of square footage that had not seen its fullest potential prior. This has resulted in a reduction of square footage needed in the lease, providing a cost savings per square foot.
The project has required architectural and design services, workplace strategy, construction buildout, and construction/move management to the new space as well as restoration of their past space in Teaneck, NJ.
FEEDBACK
We had a very good experience partnering with Studio Eagle on the relocation of our North American Headquarters. They managed all aspects of the project from design, vendor selections, construction management and the physical move to the new building. This was no small feat considering our move had to be coordinated in four different stages to minimize the disruption to our operations. We could not be more pleased with the new corporate offices, including our museum which celebrates KUMON’s 60-year history and presence in 59 different countries. We would like to thank Studio Eagle for their full commitment and ownership to complete the project in a timely manner and on budget. It was a pleasure to work with their team.
